Our new food series, “Moosemeat & Marmalade” starts production April 23rd. The team has converged and are ready to start rolling our first episode in Victoria and Sooke. Directed by Jordan Kawchuk, bush cook Art Napoleon and fine chef Dan Hayes will explore one another’s cuisine and cultures.

We’re happy to announce that our doc food series “Moosemeat & Marmalade” is going to into production for APTN and Evasion/Zeste through May Street’s sister company Mooswa Films Inc. This 13-episode is being produced by Mike Wavrecan and Art Napoleon, with Hilary Pryor as Executive Producer. The series goes to camera this spring.

Production Manager/Coordinator Needed

Mooswa Films (a sister company to May Street Productions Ltd.) is seeking a non-union Production Manager/Production Coordinator for a 13 episode food series for APTN. You will work out of our Victoria office starting as soon as financing is confirmed (ASAP) until the end of production in September. At that point, your contract may conclude, or you may be asked to continue on a part-time basis.

Duties

Organizing shoots, ensuring that all details have been taken care of – and then troubleshoot as things inevitably change

Prepare and amend deal memos, release forms, insurance certificates and other related paperwork – and then ensure you get all of that paper back signed!!

Oversee production spending in conjunction with Producers, monitoring all invoices and expenses

Creating and sending out daily call sheets in a timely manner

Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years professional experience as a PC or PM in film or television

Must be able to multi-task under pressure

Solid planning, time-management and organization skills

Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with people in writing, on the phone and in person

Attention to detail is essential to ensure contracts are correct and invoices match what was in those contracts

“iSave the World” Gets Development $$

May Street’s new online game for 8 to 12-year-olds has received development funding from BC Film + Media (thank you!!). The game will introduce tweens to the world of social entrepreneurship. May Street is happy to once again be working with Tactica Interactive on this project, the tech geniuses behind our award-winning Tiga Talk app.

Mike’s out in Toronto checking out all that nextMEDIA has to offer. Thanks to BC Film + Media for helping getting him out there with a Passports to Markets grant! In addition to our popular Tiga Talk! iPhone apps, we have lots of new interactive projects on the go. We expect Mike to return with all kinds of useful intel from the conference, or at the very least, some cool swag for us all.

Hilary’s Interviewing Deepak Chopra

Hilary is currently in California participating in the Chopra Centre’s “Seduction of Spirit” Meditation and Yoga Retreat. The retreat will is part of Hilary’s exploration of the aging process for May Street’s VisionTV series “Taking Back the Years”. As part of events this week, Hilary will have a sitdown interview with Deepak Chopra himself.

Erin Skillen has headed off to Toronto for Hot Docs 2012. While in Toronto she will be pitching May Street’s new slate of projects for 2012. Between all the broadcaster meetings, panels, and schmoozing we’re sure there will be time to take in a movie or two!

Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, returns April 26 – May 6, 2012, celebrating 19 years as an essential meeting place for the international documentary industry.
